What a great day! Today was due to be really one of the real-deal key workouts of the season. And I woke up to a nightmare at 4AM!!! And feeling very sore everywhere..thought great. Anyway I proceeded to eat a HUGE breakfast, (I guess) at least 3kg of 4-grain porridge with fruit and almond butter, hmm, SWEET!! It was then time to go to my own man-cave and do some adjustments to my Xenith. Suddenly I srated to feel better and better and thought that maybe I would be able to pull a good workout after all. It would be my 2nd very tough workout of the week as I had already done a 70K/15K brick with oly-distance work on thursday. An alternative would've been to go aqua-jogging with women.
So 10.10AM and I jump to the pool to do a 2K swim TT...in a wetsuit!!! (I don't suggest that to anyone that hasn't already tried) I swam a tad under 32mins for the 2K wich was pretty excellent in my standard but I was COOKED when I got off the pool. Maybe I should have prepared my evening pasta inside my suit at the same time :)
After the swim it was a blazing fast 3K transition bike back home and I then hopped on my horse and off I was for a 3h ride with 3x30min @ HIM watts. I averaged 36km/h for the ride (with training wheels) which was another very positive for me. Though I felt a little bonk coming at the very end as I had only eaten one banana and 2 awful gels after breakfast.
When I got back home I immediately put on my women Trances and was running very comfortably and feeling great at 4.15/km pace. I held onto this pace for 12km and back home I was. Mission accomplished! Great workout and a confidence booster especially after the feeling I had waking up!
Now it's off to follow the European Championships. I think I would've run Javier down today ;-P
